SmallvilleThe CW has announced two new cast members for the upcoming eighth season of their hit series, Smallville.

Sam Witwer (Battlestar Galactica) will play a Metropolis paramedic who finds himself turning towards the darkness inside of him...

Fan-fed rumors abound that he will eventually develop into the Smallville version of Doomsday (who, in comic mythology, killed Superman.)

Cassidy Freeman (Finishing the Game) has landed the role of Tess Mercer - Lex Luthor's ruthless handpicked protege and succesor. Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor) will not be a regular cast member this season, so it is assumed that Tess will simply stand in as Clark's nemesis and the new mastermind for the baddies.

The new season of Smallville will kick off this fall.
