Doug Jones While director Guillermo Del Toro (Hellboy) is currently busy with pre-production on The Hobbit, that doesn't mean he isn't also busy thinking about what his next project might be. And one thing he's got in mind is a new Frankenstein. In fact, Del Toro has already unofficially cast the leading role - his old friend, Doug Jones.
The two have already worked together many times, as Doug had major parts in Hellboy and Pan's Labyrinth. (Del Toro also wants Jones for an undisclosed, make-up intensive role in The Hobbit.) The director said that "the only vision of the Frankenstein monster I've ever latched on it Berni Wrightson's. He's lanky and long and it's gorgeous in a tragic way. Doug has all of those qualities." He went on to add that the idea was only a seed for now, and would be carefully cultivated over a period of years, in order to do it properly.
