Scriptwriter Mike Millar (Ultimate Avengers) hopes to take on the next Superman feature. He's been talking about it to the press for over a year now, and lately, it seems that folks have started to take his idea seriously. Earlier this week, he revealed that he had been approached by a "very well known American action director" to join his team for a Warner Bros pitch of their ideas...
While Millar declined to name the director, he did say that, if things go as planned, an official announcement would be made by Christmas. He also said that to land such a gig would be his "lifetime's dream." Millar, the director, and an un-named producer hope to sell their plan to Warner Bros for a 2011 release date. They know they've got a hard job ahead of them, after the dismal earnings (or lack thereof) from Superman Returns. While we're completely on board with the thought of a new team for Superman, we can't be so sure that Warner feels the same way. Their last official statement on the matter was that Bryan Singer would be returning to direct the sequel, and they were excited to offer him the opportunity to take his vision for one of America's favorite superheros to the next level.
