It’s been three years since Joss Whedon did the movie Serenity based on the TV series Firefly. And since we all have been waiting to see something else from him dealing with SciFi or Fantasy either on TV or at the movies. We thought we would get the Wonder Woman movie but that got stuck in the development freezer...

And even though Whedon has been showing us his creativity in comic books, not to mention prepping his new TV show Dollhouse, there was a the possibility that his dark thriller Goners would make it to the big screen but even that has hit road block.

But whats this that we have coming? It's Cabin In The Woods, a brand-new bright and shimmering light Whedon movie that sounds to good to be true. We just love movies about cabins in the woods like Evil Dead II and Friday the 13th, Whedon has teamed up again with Cloverfield writer Drew Goddard, who started out under Whedon's on Buffy The Vampire Slayer. “There’s a reason the title is so straightforward,” Goddard told MTV, “It’s its own sub-genre, the cabin in the woods, and this is sort of our take on it. It’s fresh and new.” Goddard co-wrote the script with Whedon.

At the moment, it looks likely that Goddard maybe the one to direct this one, not Whedon. But that didn’t stop Goddard from voicing what the creator of Buffy and Angel would bring to the table. “It’s genius, it’s funny,” Goddard said. “It’s got a harder and darker edge, but it’s also got classic Whedon qualities. It’ll rip your heart out and be heartfelt at the same time.”

Sounds to good to be true us. And, as for Goners, a dark horror fantasy about a young woman acquiring fantastic powers (Um, sounds like Buffy don't it!), Whedon revealed that it “had been backburnered… I still have hope for it, though.”

So what do you guys think? Goddard proved with Cloverfield that he can write, but Cloverfield wasn't all that in our book. So reteaming with Whedon to breathe life into a sub-genre that has become a bit stale of late, should be exciting. Of course, given Whedon’s luck with movies lately we fear that we will never see it! So are you looking forward to this?
