George Lucas George Lucas recently revealed that a fifth 'Indiana Jones' movie might soon be on the way. (And after the $750 million raked in by 'Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull,' is anyone surprised???)
One roadblock to such an undertaking is the difference in ideas between writer George Lucas, and director Steven Spielberg...
It's inevitable that two industry big-wigs like these are going to have different ideas, and each thinks theirs is the right direction to go in. According to Lucas, "we still have the issues about the direction we'd like to take. I'm in the future; Steven's in the past. He's trying to drag it back to the way they were, I'm trying to push it to a whole different place. So, still we have a sort of tension."
Lucas also stated that doing #4 was more his idea, and Spielberg was a bit reluctant to come along for that particular ride. But, after raking in tons of cash, who wouldn't change their mind? Now it's all up to George to come up with an idea that everyone likes to get the next one done. Making the last film was quite the challenge, thanks to the fact that there were "another two people saying 'I want it this way' and 'I want it that way,' whereas, when I first did Jones, I just said 'We'll do it this way' - and that was much easier."
