USA Network will once again be the place to go for must-see television, when The 4400 returns with new episodes beginning on June 17. And, executive producer Ira Steven Behr has promised that the big question will be answered this time around, saying "What most excites me about this season [is] that we finally answer, or may answer, depending on your point of view, what it was all about, what ultimately it's all about. Most shows won't do that and then still feel they have enough credence to continue on. But, you know, I think it's a pretty cool outgrowth of what the original concept series was...
And it always bugged me from the very beginning. Why did everyone come back? I wanted answers, you know?" Another central story element this season will be promicin, the neurotransmitter responsible for the superhuman powers enjoyed by the 4400. The chemical works by activating parts of the cerebellum that ordinary humans can't access. In seasons past, the government had rounded up those with powers and injected them with a promicin inhibitor, causing a lethal reaction in many. Meanwhile, Jordan Collier (Billy Campbell) passed out promicin injections to anyone willing to stand in line and get them. Now we'll have two groups with powers - those who wanted them and were willing to risk life and limb to get them, and those who were kidnapped by the flashing ball of light and forcibly made to take them on.
