Jennie Baird (Conviction) has joined the cast of USA Network's The 4400. She'll play the new head of the National Threat Assessment Command (NTAC), Meghan Doyle. She's the third commander the agency has had since the show began; others were Dennis Ryland (Peter Coyote) and Nina Jarvis (Samantha Ferris). Though fans loved Coyote as head of NTAC, producer Ira Steven Behr said the character only "became interesting" to him AFTER he left NTAC to start a movement against those with superhuman 4400 abilities. And, Ferris's character was never fully developed due to one thing and another...
So now the show is wide open for a new character, and showrunners are hoping Meghan Doyle will fill the bill. Her first appearance comes in the season four premiere, "Wrath of Graham." She's a rebel, and her rule-breaking ways threaten to upset NTAC past the breaking point. It's also no accident that she's gorgeous: "I had the bright idea that Meghan, this new character, could give us a new head of NTAC and would also give us someone for Tom to ultimately get involved with, because, goddamn it, we're going to make a romantic pairing on this show work if I have to go in there and do it myself," Behr said. The new season begins June 17 at 9 PM on USA Network.
