Panic AttackTwo weeks ago we posted a five-minute short called "Panic Attack" that was put together by a commercial director and FX specialist Fede Alvarez. The short video shows the Earth being ruthlessly attacked by giant robots that came out of the fog. The video is impressive to say the least and you can view it below.

Well now it looks like Sam Raimi (Spider-Man) was also impressed with Alvarez's "Panic" that he decided to sign him up to develop a new sci-fi film that will carry the tittle "There will be Robots." Alvarez confirmed this, adding that the movie will have a budget somewhere between $30 to $40 million.

Clash of the Titans Relativity Media is negotiating with Henry Cavill ("The Tudors") to star as Theseus in the Tarsem Singh-directed "War of the Gods." At the same time, Warner Bros is in talks with Sam Worthington (Terminator Salvation, Avatar) to play the role of Perseus in the Louis Leterrier-directed "Clash of the Titans." Deals for both actors are expected to be worked out, keeping the Greek mythology-themed projects on a parallel track. Both films are expected to begin production by late winter or early spring.

Wizard of Oz John Boorman is attached to direct the $25 million, CG-animated pic "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz." The adaptation of L Frank Baum's original novel will be Boorman's first toon pic. "OZ" is currently in pre-production and is written by Boorman, Ron Mita and Jim McClain (Robots). It's scheduled to hit theaters during summer of 2010. The English-language adaptation maintains the tale's main characters and settings. Unlike the MGM classic, however, it's not a musical.

Kevin Smith Well here we go again, yet another spoof movie! Kevin Smith (Clerks, Dogma) is developing a futuristic outer space comedy. Like most spoofs the film will reference other sci-fi movies and revolves around a father-son relationship. Smith has nodded to the genre in his earlier work but has never, let me repeat that NEVER made a sci-fi film in his life...

Kung Fu Panda DreamWorks Animation has announced that the sequel to its worldwide animation hit, "Kung Fu Panda," is expected to return to theaters on June 3rd, 2011. The studio also anticipates releasing the film at IMAX theatres worldwide and like most other 2009 DreamWorks Animation releases, "Kung Fu Panda 2" will be produced in stereoscopic 3D technology...

Men in Black With all the franchises that are trying to add another installment, some of us has wondered if there is any movement on "Men in Black 3," which has been in the rumor mill for a while. According to a source close to producer Walter Parkes, a third film could potentially be on its way, if pieces begin falling into place. "The challenge is getting the script right and finding a time when our busy stars are available," said the source. "But everyone, including Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, wants to do another."

Dark Knight DVD cover Warner Home Video has announced a Dec. 9 2008 release date for The Dark Knight on DVD and Blu-ray. After pulling in $0.4 million on Friday, The Dark Knight's domestic take is now $523.2 million, second only to Titanic.

Firefox claims download success Mozilla is claiming a download record for the release of Firefox 3

In the first 24 hours the web browser was available the software was downloaded more than 8 million times, says Mozilla.

Statistics from the download servers are being scrutinised to produce an official figure that will be passed to the Guinness World Record organisation.

But the launch was marred by news from security firms who have found the first flaws in the software...
