Just two days ago (December 28th), the company blasted a new satellite into orbit, which will give DirectTV the capacity to add a 3D channel and several additional HD channels. The satellite will be fully operational by March. The new 3D-HDTV broadcast will require people to purchase a new 3D compatible HD TV, many of which will be showcased at CES 2010, 3D glasses, and probably the new soon-to-be-available HDMI 1.4 adapters. DirectTV boxes will receive a firmware upgrade, so there won’t be need to change them.
So are you willing to buy a completely new 3D HD TV and all the equipment necessary just to enjoy one channel [at the moment] in 3D? Tell us if you think it’s worth it.
