Aquaman

Aquaman Takes the Crown

He’s done it!  ‘Aquaman’, directed by James Wan and starring Jason Momoa, has become the most financially successful DC Universe movie for Warner Brothers.  The picture swam to a global box office total of $887 million, topping ‘Batman V Superman”s $873M.  ‘Aquaman’ debuted on the highly competitive weekend before Christmas and was the immediate champ, besting ‘Mary Poppins Returns’ and ‘Bumblebee’.  It has yet to abdicate the throne and is expected to remain at the top for a third weekend, even though ticket sales overall will be down, in the aftermath of the holidays.  It may seem premature, but at this point, ‘Aquaman’ is also expected to be #1 next weekend, as not many formidable new releases will be arriving.Continue reading

Torchwood ‘Miracle Day’ Promos

Synopsis

“One day, nobody dies. All across the world, nobody dies. And then the next day, and the next, and the next, people keep aging – they get hurt and sick – but they never die.

The result: a population boom, overnight. With all the extra people, resources are finite. It’s said that in four months’ time, the human race will cease to be viable. But this can’t be a natural event – someone’s got to be behind it. It’s a race against time as C.I.A. agent Rex Matheson investigates a global conspiracy. The answers lie within an old, secret British institute. As Rex keeps asking “What is Torchwood?”, he’s drawn into a world of adventure, and a threat to change what it means to be human, forever.”

‘Push’ Movie Turns into New TV Series

The studio has just announced that it has partnered with E1 Entertainment to develop and produce a TV series based on Push and has hired screenwriter David Hayter (Watchmen, X2) to pen the script for the series pilot.

The new series will purportedly be an extension of the science-fiction thriller, centered on people with paranormal powers who band together to take down a corrupt government agency.

Is Smallville getting Green Lantern and Sandman?

We already knew that the Justice Society of America storyline will be airing in February as a two hour TV-Movie Special called “Absolute Justice” and it would would introduce Hawkman, Doctor Fate and Stargirl – and we knew more characters would be appearing. Well we now know thanks to the trailer that Sandman – the original, yes that gas mask wearing Wesley Dodds. But the real kicker that has us all at the edge of our seats was a glimpse (the kind you miss if you blink) of a man’s hand wearing a very familiar unforgettable green ring.

Green Lantern, Sandman, Doctor Fate

Even though Smallville producers have noted over and over that they can’t use several characters currently in the pipeline for movies, and yes that has included none other than Green Lantern. The Green Lantern movie is about to go into production, and will be starring Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan. But it seems that the powers that be at DC and Warner Bros. have eased their restrictions just a bit, as it is very obvious that the ring shown belongs to the original Green Lantern who just so happens to be Alan Scott a Justice Society of America member.

Given that we’ve only heard about Hawkman, Doctor Fate and Stargirl meeting Clark Kent, it seems more than likely that Sandman and Green Lantern will only be appearing in flashbacks, and at this junction that maybe all we see of Alan Scott and Wesley Dodds. Still just their appearance in any fashion is notable for any DC Comics fans, and continues to rise Smallville’s status on the growing television version of the DC Universe.

2012 Series Could Replace Lost

He continued: "We said to Mark, 'Why don't you do a TV show that picks up where the movie leaves off and call it 2013?' I think it will focus on a group of people who survived but not on the boats … maybe they were on a piece of land that was spared or one that became an island in the process of the crust moving. There are so many possibilities of what they could do and I'd be excited to watch it."

Apparently Gordon has already started talks with ABC, which will have an opening after their popular "Lost" program ends.

"There's hope for the world despite the magnitude of the 2012 disaster as seen in the film," said Gordon. "After the movie, there are some people who survive and the question is how will these survivors build a new world and what will it look like. That might make an interesting TV series."
